Lets talk about female hair loss. Hello my name is Dr. Murphy Veturi and I’m a board certified dermatologist. My practice is in Roseville Minnesota.
I’m going to be talking and explaining to you, a little bit about hair loss.
So I’ve been suffering for the past 10 years with a condition called androgenic alopecia,
also known as female pattern hair loss, It runs in my family and my mom also has this condition. However after each pregnancy
and I’ve just had a baby in November, I also go through a temporary type of hair loss known as pillagin effluvium. So I’d

like you to see what happens with a normal tillage and effluvium. I know this is normal because this has happened with
each of my other three pregnancies. So just observe with a great amount of hair that is lost with a normal tillage and
effluvium so deliberately. I use a comb instead of a brush because I don’t want to break any hair follicles we want to
- Family history (heredity). The most common cause of hair loss is a hereditary condition called male-pattern baldness or female-pattern baldness.
- Hormonal changes and medical conditions
- Medications and supplements
- Radiation therapy to the head

be as gentle as possible during this. I always during this time period I always have and the Afghan handy to
track this hair but there is more than 150 to 200 hairs that come out just right after the shower and I’ve lost

of female pattern hair loss I used something called Rogaine or minoxidil every day some of my patients ask
isn’t that a pain to use every day well I’d rather keep my hair than lose my hair and with the significant amount of
hair loss that I undergo it is really important to keep the hair in the growth phase so it is something that I’ve
adopted my daily regimen along with deodorant and brushing my teeth so I hope that this reassures you that it is
normal to lose vast amounts of hair after pregnancy and after stressful events however due to my history of the
female pattern hair loss I definitely use my minoxidil or Rogaine on a daily basis thanks hi so this is dr. terrine

shedding it still looks full all and thanks to my Rogaine aka minoxidil use so despite the fact that I am actively
losing hair the Rogaine is keeping the hair in that growth cycle so I’m getting new hair and the hair that I was
supposed to be shedding will be coming back thanks to my Rogaine so this just goes to show you despite all the hair
I’m losing there are things that I can do namely this topical Rogaine or minoxidil to keep that hair in that nice
